HOW IT ALL BEGAN

La Tricotea, with musicians from the Orchestra of Granada, the Municipal Band of Granada, and the Orchestra of the 18th Century, originated in 2007 and performed its debut concert in the International Festival of Music and Dance of Granada in that same year.

The press praised the “pearls of music” offered by the synthesis of early and modern instruments which “opens up the world of early music to diverse interpretations”. Subsequently, the Musical Circuit of Andalusia accepted La Tricotea into its framework of ensembles for performances throughout the province.Performances followed at the Early Music Festival in Utrecht, Netherlands, and at the International Festival in Bergen, Norway.

Their first recording, “Cancionero de los Vientos” was released in 2011 and received the highest five-star rating from a number of prominent music critics who acclaimed the “mature musicianship”, “tightly-knit performance” and the “aristocratic”, “extraordinarily exquisite” sound, labelling the recording a “bull’s-eye”. La Tricotea’s second recording will explore a surprising resemblance between contemporary and 12th-century music.
